It's been three years. Any progress on enabling editing in trees? Webix can do it - http://docs.webix.com/samples/17_datatree/05_edit/01_selection.html

Editing the Kendo treeview node

The treeview widget currently works only in read mode, that is, the datasource only supports the 'read' method. It would be great to have the create, update and delete methods to support full CRUD.

What would also be great if you could add an image to the node but the image would not be affected when editing the node inline.
